This blog is an extension of the community I've built, or at least tried to build, in the Chicago photography groups on Flickr and DeviantArt. Given Google / Picasa's limited space allotments for free users, we will have to embed most of these photos elsewhere, for now, to avoid running out of space, but maybe there will be more discussion than there was, elsewhere?

Current members of the Chicago Photography group on Flickr are first in line for memberships on this blog, if they want them, at least at first, but I eventually will open up membership to other applicants, after the Flickr people have had a fair chance to act. I'm trying to make a community out of this, and without loyalty, there is no community, right? Not that I know that this is what people want, but that is what I am hoping for.

Posts to this blog will be tweeted on the microblog that has been used for notification of uploads to the pool for the Flickr group, which, at the time of this writing, has 59 subscribers. It's a nice start, and the membership's photos have seen some added exposure as a result of it. The same should happen for content posted to this blog, should people choose to use it.
